Phuket Beaches, Thailand

Phuket has more than a handful of beaches, each one unique on its own and well worth a days visit or two. Even if the water on some beaches is not as crystal clear as on the small nearby islands they are still in the world class, one of the top 10 destinations in the beach search by Discovery Travel. With patong as the most crowded beach, and when the sun sets turns into a haven for the night-owl, none of the wild party animals will be disappointed here. In the north are almost desert beaches, if privacy is what you need. And sometimes it feels great to just get away from all the noise and cars, that you can find on the more popular destination beaches, like patong, kata & karon. The south is blessed with one of phukets top beaches, naiharn beach, a must on your beach list.

We start in the south and work our way up, as all of the beaches are located on phukets west coast, the east coast has some beaches, but the water is not as apealing as on the other side of phuket.

Mai Khao Beach, Phuket Thailand

Mai Khao Beach is a lovely long long streatch of beach in the fart north of the phuket.

Nai Yang Beach, Phuket Thailand

Nai Yang Beach is also a rather quiet beach, compared to the southern beaches. Alot of locals come here for the great small thai style restaurants by the beach, where you can enjoy all sorts of barberque food, all from fish, crabs, squid, clams to chicken.

Nai Thon Beach, Phuket Thailand

Nai Thon Beach is located on the road to nai yang beach and the airport. Right after Nai Harn Beach this is one of phukets most hidden pearls. Its amazingly clear water and fine sand. There is also snorkeling oppertunities here to the south of the beach, outside near some rocks.

Bang Tao Beach, Phuket Thailand

Most famous for the luxury hotels that are located around this beautiful and still quiet beach. The beach it self is so long that even tough there is a few people around, it still feels like a empty wonderful beach, with lovely clear waters.

Surin Beach, Phuket Thailand

Surin beach is another of phukets finer beaches, its a lovely place, white sand and clear water, and its perfect for a evening dinner to watch the sunset go down.

Laem Sing Beach, Phuket Thailand

Laem Sing Beach can be found on the way to surin beach, when you have passed kamala beach and are on the road high over the sea. There is plenty of roadsigns that will tell you to park here and get yourself climbing down to the beach, a rough walk down, with some stairs to help you, its well worth the climb to get down, but its a very small and a bit to crowded beach in high season.

Kamala Beach, Phuket Thailand

Kamala beach is located north of patong, on the way to surin beach or bang tao beach, its a long lovely beach with quite a few good spots, one of the better beeing the north part of the beach, where you also can enjoy alot of barberque, sunbathing and swimming.

Patong Beach, Phuket Thailand

Patong beach attracts a lot of people, and might be quite crowded in high season, as here you have everything in walking distance. If you want a more private beach you have to find another of phukets beaches. Here you will find a large selection of watersport equipment for rent.

Karon Beach, Phuket Thailand

Karon Beach, is a long long streatch, and you can find yourself a favourite spot along the beach.

Kata Beach, Phuket Thailand

Kata Beach is well know for its very child friendly water levels, you can have alot of fun here and play around.

Kata Noi Beach, Phuket Thailand

Kata noi beach, is the first of the 3 beaches seen from the view point, when driving from the south towards patong beach. You actually have to make a left turn when coming into kata just after a huge downhill, otherwise you will miss it, and end up on kata beach. This beach is less crowded then the other two, and is very suitable for families.

Nui Beach

This beach is well hidden, but has now got its own road sign, but still to get down to the beach you need an motorbike, or get ready for a 2km walk, which will be rewarded by a swim in crystal clear waters. Its located right after the famous view point where you see the three beaches, kata noi beach, kata beach and karon beach. Its worth the effort to get yourself down here, and they even got a restaurant and bar.

Nai Harn Beach

Nai Harn is one of phukets premier beaches, it got clear waters, a lovable shape, soft sand that flows through your toes as you walk down to take a swim. Its less crowded, and during low season its almost desert, which makes it a rather private beach. But around new year that will change, and the chairs and parasols are back on the beach in multitude.

Rawai Beach

The southern most beach, is not really a beach for sun divers, its more for food lovers, and especially to those who are interested in barberque, chicken, fish, prawn, crab & other delishious seafood. Dining here is excelent at very good prices, compared to some of the well overpriced hotel restaurants. Especially in high season this is a well visited beach by many to enjoy a lovely barberque. Highly recomended if you are in the neighburhood, or just fancy a drive along the coast, ending with an amazing meal.
